TAD-CR1

With the flagship TAD Reference One, TAD gained the whole-hearted trust and respect of many of the world’s top artists and recording engineers. As the ultimate realization of the point-source sound concept, it was created by merging advanced technologies with our decades of engineering experience. Now we have reached a new zenith with the TAD Compact Reference, which takes advantage of all of the top-level technologies that went into the flagship model. Our objective was to achieve, in a compact size, point-source sound of such high quality that listeners will forget about the existence of the speaker. Its extraordinary sound will surely exceed your expectations. With the flagship TAD Reference One, TAD gained the whole-hearted trust and respect of many of the world’s top artists and recording engineers. TAD Reference 1

A rare element of the periodic table, beryllium holds the key to both the midrange cone and tweeter dome in our Reference One speakers. The lightest and most rigid metal applicable to this process, beryllium offers both strength and dampening characteristics that are unrivaled by any other diaphragm materials. And as TAD™ is the only speaker to employ vapor deposition, the pure crystalline structure of the TAD beryllium (when created under a vacuum) is audibly superior to all other drivers. To ensure that all sound - direct and reflected - arrives at the listening position with identical timbre, TAD™ speakers employ exclusive Coherent Source Transducer (CST) driver technology. This technology makes sure the beryllium tweeter is mounted in the center of the beryllium midrange driver. The result allows for sound directivity to be precisely controlled at all frequencies. The resulting aligned sound delivery is extremely smooth and coherent, eradicating phase and off-axis frequency response that would be naturally found in conventional drivers. Packed with first-class components, the bass technology that makes up every TAD™ Reference One speaker guarantees superior sound performance, even at the lowest of frequencies. With an extremely rigid and solid cone structure, more stability and uniform cone movement are achieved to enhance the dynamic performance. A specially designed basket frame also significantly reduces unnecessary reaction and resonance. Add to that an ultra-strong neodymium magnet and large voice coil, and the perfection of the resulting sound quality appears effortless. With a pair of 10” bass drivers reproducing frequencies from 25Hz to 250Hz with stunning authority, our cones in the TAD™ Reference One employ a tri-laminate construction of woven aramid fibers sandwiching a foamed acrylic core. The result enables the transducers to possess enormous rigidity and speed when reproducing, with next to no distortion, the very loudest bass passages. In turn, our bass drivers are also enclosed within a thick multi-laminate cabinet structure that is engineered to virtually eliminate standing waves and resonances through careful cabinet design and construction. ISO-Drive technology then mechanically isolates the CST driver within its dedicated enclosure to reduce the transfer of mechanical energy that can smear imaging and sound detail. Lastly, the teardrop shape of the Reference One is also designed specifically to minimize front baffle and rear diffraction anomalies.   More info.

Technical Audio Devices Laboratories,Inc.(TADL) grew from the sprit to discover technologies to perfectly recreate the pure sound of life performances with uncompromising craftsmanship. We have inherited our philosophy from Bart Locanthi -recognized across the globe as the ultimate sound technologist-who believed that genuine technology is true to the basic and that genuine technology places greater importance on sound quality than on technology for its own sake. At TADL,we are honing our technology to create equipment that reproduces musical sounds that evoke both the energy and impact of life music.
TAD Evolution One

The heart of the TAD Evolution One is the Coherent Source Transducer Driver developed from that used in the TAD Reference One - a driver that embodies the single point source concept. The midrange and tweeter are configured coaxially so their directional characteristics conform. The resultant directional response remains uniform across a wide frequency, ensuring extremely stable sound localization and a natural soundfield. The tweeter diaphragm is made of beryllium, the lightest and stiffest metal available for speaker diaphragms. Formed by TAD’s unique deposition technique, it exhibits high internal loss and smooth frequency response. Achieving an ideal diaphragm shape based on computer analysis, it is capable of reproducing frequencies up to 100kHz. The midrange features an extremely lightweight magnesium diaphragm with high internal loss. Both of these units reproduce sound with virtually no distortion and none of the coloration characteristics of other materials. As a woofer requires a high degree of both stability and strength, TAD developed the Multi-layered Aramid Composite Shell diaphragm, made by laminating many layers of Aramid fabric and non-woven fabric for light weight and high stiffness. This shell-shaped diaphragm with integrated center cap and cone is driven by a large diameter voice coil and neodymium magnet, reproducing rich, clear bass with low coloration. The aero-design chassis is designed to minimise any airflow noise and improve the resolution of bass sounds. The Structurally Inert Laminated Enclosure Technology features a framework of high rigidity birch plywood combined with MDF for high internal loss, achieving an enclosure that combines high strength with low resonance. The enclosures teardrop shaped rear section further ereduces unwanted cabinet resonance as a result of the improved stiffness of the curved panels. Two finishes: high gloss black, or wood veneer with a closed-pore satin finish, enhance the beauty of the curved cabinet design. TAD put a great deal of effort into the design of the networks, to seamlessly intergrate the drive units into a cohesive whole. To eliminate any effects from magnetism and vibration due to the CST and bass drivers, the network filters are located outside of the cabinet. Installed within the high rigidity aluminum base, these networks are isolated both mechanically and acoustically from the influence of the main enclosure, ensuring maximum resolution.

Pioneer S-7 EX  By TAD  The perfect matching center speaker for your TAD speakers!

The S-7EX matching center speaker for the S1EX and S-2EX features a 1 3/8in, (3.5 cm) Beryllium tweeter for pristine sound and almost perfect reproduction of high frequencies up to 100 kHz used in DVD Audio and SACD formats today.  The tweeter is mounted in the center of a 5 1/2" (14cm) magnesium midrange driver allowing the sound directivity to be precisely controlled at all frequencies. The resulting aligned sound delivery is extremely smooth and coherent. Unlike conventional drivers, the problems with phase and off-axis frequency response have been totally eradicated. Two  7-1/16 in. (18 cm) Aramid / Carbon composite shell woofers handles the bass.  The unique one-piece construction of the cone and center cap that was created for the EX Series bass driver, combined with the improved rigidity of the aramid fiber structure, produces a much stiffer and more rigid construction. Unwanted cone resonances are pushed beyond the bass driver’s operating range, allowing the cone to accurately pass the coil movement on to the air and significantly improve the accuracy of sound reproduction. With the tweeter/midrange and bass drivers perfected, an equally ingenious enclosure must be created to provide them with a stable base. The EX Series’ cabinets are crafted from multiple layers of laminated MDF, ranging from a minimum of 30 mm up to a generous 100 mm, to ensure that they remain inert. Along with the curved baffle and radius edges, these enclosures help create an amazingly realistic stage with exceptional clarity and focus.
