Audio Research DS-225
Audio Research’s proprietary Class D all-discrete analog switching mosfet output technology combined with a large, linear analog power supply, yielding tremendous speed and power delivery, but doing so with cool-running efficiency, idling at only 38 watts. The DS225 is a global feedback-free, fully-balanced design with both XLR balanced and RCA single-ended inputs. It has an uncanny ability to resolve information and place musicians firmly within a large soundstage even at low levels. You’ll hear none of the “dead zone” effect at low volume that is common to other conventional switching designs. Bass control, reach and impact are all superb, while musical dynamics are instantaneous. In addition, the amplifier has an extremely low noise floor, allowing instruments to emerge from a black background. Tonal balance is neutral, fine grained and relaxed. Like all Audio Research products, the DS225 is made by hand in Plymouth.

Audio Research Reference 75
The REF75 is a great looking amplifier, slightly reminiscent of our older classic designs. The front panel has two illuminated analog power/bias meters, one for each channel. Under each meter is a knob to switch from power output to bias monitoring for each output tube. The outer dimensions of the REF75 are identical to the REF150. The front panel, handles, and top cover are available in Natural or Black. Power output is 75 WPC continuous, based upon a push-pull, fully-balanced circuit (like the REF150), with only one matched pair of KT120 output tubes per channel. The input stage utilizes direct-coupled JFETs with a single 6H30 driver tube per channel. Like the REF150, output stage coupling is a combination of “Ultralinear” andAudio Research's patented “partially cathode coupled” topology, yielding better sound than conventional pentode or triode operation. Because of its modest heat output, cooling fans are not necessary. The REF75 is a wonderfully refined amplifier with stunning transparency, resolving power, and tonal color. Its effortless dynamics and bass impact allow it to be paired with the finest full-range speakers. The REF75 plays big and with great finesse.

JBL AVA7 125 watt by 7 Power Amp
While supplies last, save big on these A-stock, JBL Performance AVA7, Multichannel amplifiers!
The AVA7 provides a satisfying 125 watts per channel of distortion-free audio (<0.01% THD) into 8 ohms.
Because of their power capabilities, JBL Performance Series amplifiers have an extremely wide dynamic range, an element critical to realistic home cinema. Sound levels equal to those at original performances are easily re-created in even the largest of home listening environments.
The AVA7 utilizes two fans to cool the amplifier channels, ensuring long-term reliability. To reduce fan noise to an absolute minimum, a thermal-sensing and control circuit, which senses increases in temperature within the amplifier and powers the fans at a speed proportional to that temperature increase, has been incorporated in the JBL Performance Series AVA7. As a result, the fan is never turning faster than necessary, and most of the noise that is generated is masked by the program being listened to.
It also employs sophisticated protection circuitry (one for each channel) that senses many possible fault conditions, such as shorted loudspeaker wires or excess power demand, and turns the affected channel(s) off until the fault condition is removed, at which time normal operation is automatically restored. While protection of this sort is not uncommon in today’s well-designed amplifiers, a remarkable feature of the JBL Performance AVA7’s protection circuits is that they are optically coupled to the signal circuit; there is no direct electrical connection between the signal path and the protection circuitry. As a result, there can be no coloration of the music, no interaction between protection and amplification, until certain thresholds are exceeded, at which point the channel(s) would turn off completely. The Evolution e Series continues to expand, and now offers seven powerful amplifier models. Stereo components include the flagship Evolution One, the new Evolution 302, and the Evolution 402 amplifier. The Evolution 403 is a three-channel amplifier and the Evolution 400, 600, and 900 are monaural amplifiers. Two monaural amplifiers are required for stereo operation. The Evolution 400 Monaural Amplifier has a compact chassis containing all the high power, wide bandwidth, and low noise characteristics designed into every Evolution Series amplifier. Each Evolution amplifier enjoys the hereditary advantage first inherent in the Evolution One amplifier, from faceplate to binding posts.
Realized in monaural, stereo, and three-channel configurations, Krell Evolution amplifiers bring the en-gaging reproduction of music and movie soundtracks debuted in the flagship Evolution One to a potent new platform. With virtually unlimited power available, delivered through the most refined circuitry yet conceived, Evolution amplifiers strike the fine balance between pure visceral response and delicate articulation
Active Cascode Topology eliminates global negative feedback, only nested local feedback is employed around individual gain blocks. The result is an extraordinarily open, liquid, effortless sound. The signal path incorporates Krell Current Mode and CAST circuitry using proprietary multiple-output current mirrors in a complementary and balanced arrangement for extraordinary open loop linearity. Evolution circuit topology breaks through bandwidth limitations of conventional designs resulting in near perfect performance in the audible range. A complete Evolution (source, preamplifier, amplifier) system, connected in CAST, reduces the number of voltage gain stages to the minimum, one. The resulting noise floor is approaching the theoretical limit of technology. All Evolution amplifiers feature massive power supplies with the Evolution 402 and Evolution 600 equipped with a 5000 VA power supply and the Evolution 403 and Evolution 900 housing 6000 VA power supplies. The power supply makes use of extensive electrical and magnetic shielding to keep radiated interference out of critical amplifier circuits. Internal high current line conditioning circuitry filters RF noise on the AC mains, as well as compensating for asymmetric power waveforms and DC on the mains. The rails powering the amplifiers' low level and gain stages are regulated twice for total immunity from fluctuations in the AC mains and virtually noise-free output. Advanced microprocessor control monitors critical operational parameters. Bias, load impedance, regulator output voltages and operating temperature are all continuously monitored.

No product better defines classic audio than the McIntosh MC-275 vacuum tube amplifier. Released in the fall of 1961 at a retail price of $444, and produced until 1971, it’s patented Unity Coupled transformer circuitry offered wider bandwidth and lower distortion than other amplifiers of the day. Power was very high for the time at 75 wpc stereo or 150 watts mono. By the late 1960’s solid state designs had replaced vacuum tubes in the market place. Many listeners missed the warmer sound of tubes, making the MC-275 highly sought after and instantly collectible. Original MC-275’s in excellent condition now command as much as $10,000. Sensing a new market, McIntosh re-issued the MC-275 Mark 2 in 1993 with Mark 3,4 and 5 models following over the years. All versions stayed true to the basic physical and circuit architecture of the original, but with modern quality parts and manufacturing techniques applied.
MC-275 50th anniversary edition
In 2011, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the MC-275, an all new Mark 6 version was designed. McIntosh made a limited production run of only 275 of these MC-275LE’s featuring a gold plated chassis and special badging with a retail price of $6500. This is what you see before you. A standard Mark 6 version of the MC-275 is now also in ongoing production for $5500. Download Brochure.
